Preferensi Pembaca Terhadap Majalah Berbahasa Daerah

Abstract
In Java, there are some Java-language magazines that still exist today, Panjebar Semangat is the ones which first published in 1933 and survived until now with a circulation of about twelve thousand copies. Spreading not only in Java but also outside the island and abroad. The study, entitled Readers’ Preference On The Region Language Magazine was conducted with exploratory qualitative approach. The data sources are magazine subscribers Panjebar Semangat that resides in the Housing Sawojajar Malang. The data obtained were trying to uncover how the preference or preferences that may arise. Presentation of data using descriptive type with emic perspective. The result this research showed that the social background as Javanesse make them like Java language magazine. Magazines are not just used as reading material but more than that, used as container for interactions among fellow readers, as a place to draw knowledge and awareness of the art form and culture of Java. Interacting with other readers and editors make them like the rubric of reader letters. Background of social life that is still very thick with art and culture of Java, causing a preference for Java-language magazines as well. Panjebar Semangat’s readers are the people who grew up in an environment that upholds the values and norms of Javanese culture as much as possible tried to defend himself to keep living life according to the adopted culture. By selecting the Java language magazine, they showed identity at the same time strive to maintain a cultural symbol that raised them.Keywords: Customer, preferences
Pendahuluan
Tonggak perkembangan media massa di Indonesia dimulai pada jaman penjajahan Belanda dengan lahirnya penerbitan pertama tahun 1744. Siklus media massa mengikuti situasi dan kondisi di Indonesia, baik secara ekonomi maupun politik. Pada awalnya media massa menggunakan bahasa pengantar Belanda karena saat itu Indonesia dikuasai Belanda dan banyak orang menguasai bahasa tersebut sebagai bahasa pergaulan, tetapi dalam perkembangan selanjutnya bermunculan media massa berbahasa pengantar Melayu, Indonesia, Inggris, Jawa, dan Tionghoa. Media berbahasa daerah pertama kali terbit di Surakarta tahun 1855 bernama Bromartani menggunakan bahasa dan aksara Jawa (Suprawoto, 2004:29-36). Setelah itu media massa terus berkembang hingga seperti sekarang ini.
Perkembangan teknologi media dan beragam isi media yang mengikuti trend gaya hidup dan hiburan masa kini cenderung membuat orang menjatuhkan pilihan pada media yang umum dan termutakhir. Mayoritas media massa di Indonesia menggunakan bahasa Indonesia sebagai bahasa pengantar, namun ada beberapa media yang menggunakan selain bahasa Indonesia sebagai bahasa pengantarnya, misalnya harian berbahasa Inggris, Mandarin dan majalah berbahasa daerah seperti Jawa atau Sunda bahkan Batak.
